Sareb transfers 100 affordable homes to let to Castilla y León

Sareb has reached an agreement with the Castilla y León Regional Government to transfer 100 homes to be used as affordable housing. The collaborative agreement was signed this morning by Juan Carlos Sánchez-Quiñones, the Regional Government’s Minister of Development and Environment and Gaspar Palenzuela, Sareb’s Director of Corporate Social Responsibility.

In line with the agreement, the Regional Government will be responsible for managing the transferred properties for four years. The homes are located in the region’s nine capital cities, in large towns and in areas where a high demand for affordable homes has been detected. The agreement establishes that the rent will not exceed 30% of the new tenants’ current net family income.

The cost of insurance, service charges, taxes and rates will be paid by Sareb, while the Regional Government will pay for all of the corresponding charges related to the management of the homes, as well as their day-to-day management. The regional government will select the tenants and will sign a lease agreement with them.

Sareb’s Executive Chairman, Jaime Echegoyen, highlighted the importance of this agreement, which “demonstrates Sareb’s commitment to Society”. Sareb recently doubled up on its collaborations with regional governments and is now providing 4,000 homes as affordable housing.

To date, more than 5,000 people have benefited from the affordable housing plans set up by Sareb with Catalonia, Aragón, Galicia, the Basque Country and the Balearic Islands.
